The Dimensions Analytics MCP server bridges the gap between AI assistants and the world’s most comprehensive linked research database. By integrating this server into your AI workflows, you give agents direct access to over 430 million interconnected records, including publications, grants, patents, clinical trials, datasets, and policy documents.
What You Can Do
- Search across all major research entity types in natural language
- Build researcher and organisation profiles aggregating publications, citations, and funding
- Resolve affiliations, DOIs, PMIDs, and grant numbers to structured Dimensions records
- Run raw DSL queries for advanced, programmatic access to the full Dimensions schema
Example Prompts
Once configured, try asking your AI assistant:
Find the 10 most-cited publications on CRISPR from the last five years
Get a profile for Jennifer Doudna including her recent publications and grants
Search for NIH grants related to cancer immunotherapy over $1M
Summarise the top funding organisations for climate research in Europe over the last decade
Available Tools
The Dimensions Analytics MCP exposes tools across three capability areas: search across all major Dimensions entity types (publications, grants, patents, clinical trials, datasets, policy documents, researchers, and organisations); lookup for resolving DOIs, PubMed IDs, and Dimensions IDs to full records; and analytics for facet distributions and numeric aggregations over any entity type, plus raw DSL query execution for power users.
